Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced the vehicle roster, track list and extra features that will be available in the North American version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue , when it releases on April 17 ^th . Aside from the roster of over 60 cars, 14 additional tuned cars (listed below), six tracks and the game's regular features, the North American version will also include a Drift Mode, in depth car tuning, two-player split-screen racing and new racing events, including time trials. Seriously? These are considered “additional” features? Two-player offline split-screen racing and car tuning? Those features have been in countless racing video games before this. What, did Japanese buyers get with the game, a slap in the face?

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue also supports up to 16 players racing online simultaneously, as well as a new feature called Gran Turismo TV. This new feature opens a dedicated online channel where players can access worldwide motorsport programming and manufacturer content. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be available on April 17 ^th , exclusively for Playstation 3 in either a Blu-ray Disc format, which will cost $39.99 USD and CAD (and include a behind-the-scenes feature called Beyond the Apex ) or as a download from the Playstation Store for $39.99 USD. The Canadian price for the downloadable version has not yet been announced, but if current Canadian pricing for items on the Playstation Store is any indicator, it will be much more worth it to pick up the Blu-ray Disc version in store.
