George Trendle and Fran strikers' masked vigilante is being brought to the screen by the mightily talented Stephen Chow. Chow is the director of one of my favourite films of recent years, ' Kung Fu Hustle'.

Do the hustle

In ' Kung Fu Hustle' Chow showed evident mastery, and love, of many a genre, making him, in my opinion and fabulous choice for a project such as this.

' The Green Hornet', is essentially about a man who is a newspaper publisher by day and a masked crime fighter by night, a near genius and master detective, Britt Reid, is also an accomplished martial artist. He is aided in his crimefighting
duties by his more than able sidekick, Kato (to be played by Stephen Chow. Bruce Lee played Kato in the television series).

Seth Rogen (whose star appears to be rising) is taking the role of Britt Reid.

' The Green Hornet' has spanned many media. The character started out in radio  shows in the 1930's and has been in film serials, television shows and comic books from the 1930's through until the early 1990's.

Now I didn't know that

Little known fact: apparently the character of Britt Reid is a blood relative of the Lone Ranger! His father being Dan Reid, the namesake of the Lone Rangers' nephew.

' The Green Hornet' is slated for release in 2010 and is being produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Rogen is set to deface an American classic.
Seth Rogen is absolutely the wrong choice to play Britt Reid. He may be fabulous, furry, and freakish in the sub-intelligent stoner comedies in which he forged his "rising star", but he'll definitely have a problem making it work for him in the Green Hornet. This role should be played by George Clooney, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, or someone of similar caliber. The Hornet holds a special place in action entertainment history and deserves much better than a fat hippy kid in a green mask with a stellar martial arts sidekick picking up the slack. It's DOOMED to flop and it will take a big chunk of entertainment history with it when it goes. SOMEBODY PLEASE STOP SETH ROGEN FROM STARRING AS BRITT REID AND ASSASSINATING THIS CLASSIC CHARACTER FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS!

I don't feel good about this myself.
