I cannot help but notice that as the release for the big screen, big budget adaptation of Marvel Comics Iron Man moves ever closer (May 2008), that it continues to impress.

As you may already know, the origin of the character and the period in which the narrative is set, has been modernised. But the core elements of the story look to have been kept intact. Excellent.

The most recent trailer, shows that Robert Downey Jr. is bringing all of his charm, ability and comic timing to the part. The trailer also shows that the production values for this film will be very high.
The direction by Jon Favreau looks to be exciting, assured and effortlessly cool, aided by the experience of cinematographer, Matthew Libatique.

With a supporting cast of Terrance Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges, Samuel Jackson and Leslie Bibb, among others, this looks to have the stamp of class writ large.

Come May, we'll know whether these initial impressions were valid or not. But I'll tell you something for nothing, I'm really looking forward to this one.
