Thor, the natural heir to the throne of Asgard. Son of Odin, the All Father. Proud, brave and sometimes brash warrior. Thor, once placed into the body of Dr Donald Blake by his father Odin, to him some humility. Thor, faithful son and noble god amongst a host of noble, able and loyal gods. Gods such as Sif (Thor's lover) and Heimdall (Sif's brother), and his closest friends Balder (his friend since childhood), and The Warriors Three; Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg. Thor, weilder of the mystical hammer, Mjöllnir.
This movie is looking like it is going to be great. The cast assembled thus far are top notch actors, a mixture of safe old heads, proven character actors and young actors relatively new to the big screen, but with bucket loads of promise and ability. I mean, just look at them all. We have, Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek), Anthony Hopkins (too many to name!), Tom Hiddleston (British TV and stage), Natalie Portman ('nuff said).
And british actor and rising star, Idris Elba (American Gangster, The Wire), versitile actress Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist), Ray Stevenson (Rome).
Rounding out our merry crew we have, Tadanobu Asano (Zatôichi ), Stuart Townsend (League of Extraordinary Gentleman, Night Stalker) and Jaimie Alexander (Kyle XY). And we just
know that there are more surprises to come from the casting department.
I have a feeling that this movie will have a breadth and depth and scale that we have yet to see in comic book adaptations. I'm excited at that prospect and will continue watching this one with great interest!
