Some great twists and a surprising appearances enliven the penultimate issue of Electric Warriors.
It’s not too much of a shock that the main characters have now banded together to fight back against the forces that are making them battle each other for their entertainment. I could have guessed that even without reading the series. But that’s not the kind of twist I am talking about.
Turns out some familiar characters have sort of been in play already in this series. We just didn’t realize it.
Obviously, I am not going to reveal who I am talking about, but I will discuss a cameo by a character not seen in quite a while, Scorn. At least, I think it’s Scorn. Maybe it’s a descendant of his.
Back during the period when Superman was electric, a Kandorian named Ceritak came to Earth, and had a brief career as a hero, before going back into the bottle. This issue gives a small role to someone who looks much like him, although his name is given as Kandor-of-Ceritak. One would have expected that to be the other way around. Visually, there is no mistaking that one is meant to think of Scorn, but that’s why I am not completely certain it’s meant to actually be him, and might be a descendant.
I have really enjoyed the art on this book, and this issue is no exception. A climactic battle with Firestorm is particularly well rendered.
And with each issue, there are more and more little teases towards the world of the Legion. I kind of wish there were more teases about the world of Kamandi, but that is in the past for these characters. Still, I admit I longed to see Prince Tuftan in the ring.
