Just when we thought DC Comics had stopped toying around with the Elongated Man, another mystery comes to reach the beloved sleuth. Dr Fate’s mask has landed in the hands of a member of the Croatoans and the rest of the gang, along with the Shadow Pact has come to ask Ralph Dibny to help solve the mystery of the helmet. But the helmet has ideas of its own. Elsewhere, Black Adam confronts Renée Montoya.
I guess I’m supposed to be familiar with the Croatoans. I’m not. I wish DC Comics would provide more information when it puts some of its arcane characters back in action. The identity of the new Booster Gold is hinted at, which makes me nauseous. Enough with the legacy and nepotism at DC Comics. Can we read about new characters that aren’t related to anyone or anything else for once? As for Ralph, he seems doomed to become part of another legacy, Doctor Fate’s. DC Comics has struggles for decades to reinvent Doctor Fate. Seems they still haven’t taken a decision yet.
The characters look stiff but I like the smirk on the Question’s face. It’s standard artwork that is not memorable, but not poor. It does the job although I expected more from 52 than average stories and artwork.
