The Rundown:
It's week 4 and the question on everyone's lips (no not that creepy no face dude) is who survived the Rhann/Thanagar War? But we'll come to that at the end because as we so often do with this book we'll start at the beginning, or as some might say Monday.
Monday AKA week 4, day 1
Hot female lesbian cop from an ethnic minority that smokes, takes aspirin and possibly has a drink problem (could the world be any more set against her) continues to stake out the seedy back alley shack whilst her internal monologue tells us of the rigours of sitting on your ass and getting paid $200 a day for it (why am I not feeling sorry for her?).
Meanwhile in space...
People are debating whether to give up searching for the surviving heroes that jetted off into space during the events of Infinite Crisis. When as look would have it Halo (whoever she may be) picks up some bizarre zeta emissions (these are given off by Rhannian teleport tech, which just so happened to start the entire Rhann/Thanagar War, how ironic)
And in the city of tomorrow Booster Gold raids his fridge and watches his big screen TV while swanning around his swanky big city apartment with his attractive friend fire who is really working the green hair and hipster jeans (if only she were real) they have a bit of a domestic about Booster Gold being a sell out and she storms out through (yes through) the door. Man how he must hate to watch her leave.
Now the astute readers out there will have noticed that there is no Tuesday in this book. I have no idea where Tuesday is but I shall assume it went a little something like this..
Tuesday:
Renee falls into an alcohol induced sleep and dreams about her lesbian love affair with the new Batwoman, gratuitous ass shots a plenty and sales increase tenfold.
The Question hangs out at the local arcade playing Pacman, oh how he wishes he had a mouth so that he too could devour little white pills.
Steel reads a copy of the latest Iron Mongers Monthly and makes himself a sandwich.
Wednesday:
And Renee is still sat on her hot lesbian ass smoking up a storm, and then in pops the question to check up on her work and generally be quirky and mysterious.
But over in the steelworks...
John Henry Irons is far from peachy, turns out someone's poisoned old Steel and he's gone a little bit kerazy talking to a ghostly apparition of his Steel armour, blowing chunks, and generally absorbing metal and transforming himself into a silver surfer looking cyborg type man in a crazy blue explosion, oh well who really cared about Steel anyway?
Thursday:
Ralph Dibny (despite arriving there a good 4 days ago) is still at the Super Boy shrine, where he has a chat to Cassie and her cult friends and then has a bit of a bath, in which some crazy stuff happens and someone nicks his wedding ring, I'm not really sure what went on here, I think perhaps the ring signified his marriage to Sue (obviously) and the important thing he had to give up to view the afterlife in these waters of Memon, was this ring, possibly the memories too, but we'll see.
Friday:
It's sill raining in Gotham (at least I think that's where Renee is) and finally something exciting is happening. Some big dude goes into the shack, but oh no, he's vanished, but The Questions appeared. (now if he was popping by every five minutes anyway why did he have to hire the lesbian to sit outside? Who knows) Anyway D&D jokes are made and they end up fighting an unknown (by me at least) green bad guy, who does some damage to Renee before getting blown away by an alien weapon of some kind, possibly Rhannian, or Thanagarian, which would explain all the alien weapons showing up in the OYL books.
Saturday:
Another day in which apparently nothing happened so here's what i think did happen:
Renee and The Question go to a local eatery to celebrate a job well done and lick their wounds (0nly The Question neither eats or licks because he has no mouth) they talk about their lives outside of crime fighting and discover they both have a love for the same x factor contestant.
Steel lies comatose in his lab which no one pays any attention too despite it billowing smoke and threatening to set fire to neighbouring buildings.
lil Miss Steel is out at the mall with friends, they watch the latest Tom Cruise film and share a large tub of popcorn and a drink, thinks get interesting when one of the boys yawns and puts his arm round lil Miss Steels shoulder. They stare into each others eyes and slowly lean in toward each other, lil Miss Steel closes her eyes, and their lips touch gently for the first time, suddenly an on screen explosion startles the pair and the turn their attention back to the exciting summer blockbuster. as must we....
Sunday:
It's experiment time, Halo and friends have managed to divert the zeta current to Australia of all places and are now trying to initiate it and bring all the heroes trapped within it home. Which i guess they do to marginal success...
Hawkgirl is huge, Green Lantern has one eye missing, Bumblebee and Vox are both in equal states of not looking to healthy (they'll end up with the Doom Patrols chief next week I guarantee it) and then there are too metallic looking forms fused together in looks of pain.
So here ends another rip roaring tale of a week in the life of DC, we laughed we cried we made stuff up, but who knows what will happen next week?
We’ll i guess in a way I do *SPOILERS* ....
Batwoman shows up to rescue Renee and The Question, the survivors of the War are rushed to hospitals and the Doom Patrol eventually, Steels located by his niece, who then decides to avenge his death/mutation, and Booster Gold doesn't do much of anything (all speculation of course)
So don't miss out and I’ll see you in 7 days.
*ZAP*
