This really looks like it’s going to be a fun series. Last issue was basically just the set up for the book’s new direction. In this one, we get more of a sense of how Andreyko, Maguire and Parsons are going to handle the book.

Frankly, with that talent on board there wasn’t much of a question, but we still get to see a more typical issue this time around.

Supergirl and Krypto head to Mogo to get what information they can on Rogol Zaar. Things do not go quite as planned, and they need some help from the Green Lantern Corps, before Supergirl can try to go behind their backs and find out what secrets they are keeping.

It’s well written, entertaining, and downright charming at times.

I have to admit, the stuff between Krypto and Ch’p pretty much stole the show for me.

It’s also impressive how well this advances a serious storyline while maintaining a light hearted air. Supergirl’s quest centres on the truth behind the destruction of Krypton. That is no frivolous mission. Andreyko does not degrade either the mission itself or Supergirl, yet manages to keep a sense of fun about it all.

It pretty much goes without saying that Maguire’s art is perfect. But heck, I’ll say it anyway.

It’s been quite a rollercoaster ride the past few years with Supergirl’s book(s), but things are really on track and roaring along now.
